§ 23-1-2. Application for license; fee; certificate of character.

  • (a)

    Any bondsman, other than a bondsman licensed to enter into bonds for others for compensation, shall make application to the Supervisor of Assessments of the County who shall provide the necessary forms and shall prescribe by reasonable rules and regulations, the information to be contained in such application.

    (b)

    The applicant for such bondsman's license shall pay a fee of Thirty Dollars ($30.00) per annum, which amount may not be prorated.

    (c)

    No such license shall be issued by the Supervisor of Assessments for any year unless and until the applicant shall have first obtained a certificate from the judge of the circuit court that he is a person of good moral character and entitled to be so licensed.

    (d)

    Applicants who fail to renew a license by January 31 of each year shall pay a penalty of ten percent (10%) of the license tax before a license is issued.

    (e)

    No person shall be licensed hereunder either as a bondsman or agent for any bondsman when such person, or his spouse, holds any office as magistrate, clerk or deputy clerk of any court.
