The Building Official shall have such powers and duties as set forth in the VUSBC,
and the Code of the County of Fairfax. The powers and duties include but are not limited
to the following:
To order any utility company or owner/occupant in writing, except as outlined for
emergencies as defined in the VUSBC and/or the VSFPC, to disconnect any premises or
apparatus when any plumbing/gas piping, appliances or apparatus within or on said
premises shall be found dangerous to persons or property within the County or in case
of failure to comply with all applicable laws, rules and regulations. The Building
Official shall have the authority to enforce a discontinuance of the same until such
laws, rules and regulations have been complied with. (15-95-65; 18-98-65.)
