§ 3-2-31. Service retirement.

  • (a)

    Normal service retirement. Any member, in service at his or her normal retirement date or within 90 days prior thereto, and who has completed five years of creditable service, may retire at his or her normal retirement date or thereafter upon written notice to the Board, made by the member or his or her duly appointed agent, and stating the time the retirement is to become effective. However, such effective date shall be subsequent to the filing of such notice.

    (b)

    Early service retirement. Any member who has completed 25 years of creditable service and attained the age of 50 years, or any member who has completed at least ten years of creditable service and whose age, when combined with the years of his or her creditable service equals at least the sum of 75 years, may retire pursuant to the procedures set forth in Subsection (a) of this Section.
