§ 2-2-2. Sale or donation of unclaimed bicycles.

Latest version.
  • Any bicycle not necessary to any court action, which is found and delivered to the Police or Sheriff's Department by a private person that thereafter remains unclaimed for thirty (30) days after the final date of publication as required herein may be given to the finder; however, the location and description of the bicycle shall be published at least once a week for two (2) successive weeks in a newspaper of general circulation within the County. In addition, if there is a license, tag, or adhesive license decal affixed to the bicycle, the record owner shall be notified directly. Failure by the finder to claim the bicycle within ten (10) days of the expiration of the thirty (30) day period shall be deemed a waiver of any claim the finder may have to the bicycle, and the bicycle may thereafter be sold at a public auction or donated to a charitable organization. Where a bicycle seized or taken into possession by the Police or Sheriff's Department is necessary to court action, the above time periods shall begin to run as of the date of final disposition of said action.
