The declarant of any residential condominium or cooperative converted from multifamily
rental use shall reimburse any tenant displaced by the conversion for amounts actually
expended to relocate as a result of such dislocation. Reimbursement shall not exceed
Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), or the amount to which a tenant may be entitled to
receive under Code of Virginia, Sections 25-239(b) and 25-247.1, if the real estate
comprising the condominium had been condemned by the Virginia Department of Highways
and Transportation. In the event the latter amount does not equal Five Hundred Dollars
($500.00), the latter amount shall control.
