The purpose and intent of this Chapter is to ensure the general health, safety, and
welfare of the citizens of Fairfax County and to protect property, state waters, stream
channels, and other natural resources from the potential harm of illicit discharges
of pollutants and unmanaged stormwater by establishing requirements for managing stormwater
and procedures whereby those requirements will be administered and enforced. The Director
of Land Development Services (LDS) is responsible for the administration of this Chapter
except for Article 9 which is administered by the Director of the Department of Public
Works and Environmental Services (DPWES). This Chapter establishes a local stormwater
management program that is administered in conjunction with the County's MS4 program
and erosion and sediment control program. (08-14-124; 41-19-124.)
