§ 8.1-5-1. Security Alarm Systems Commission

  • (a) A Security Alarm Systems Commission shall be appointed by the Board of Supervisors, as an advisory commission, under authority of Code of Virginia, Section 15.1-33.2 and shall consist of the following membership:

    One (1) citizen representative.

    The Chief of Police or his designee.

    One (1) alarm industry representative.

    (b) The Security Alarm Systems Commission shall periodically review the implementation and effectiveness of the alarm ordinance and make recommendations, as appropriate, to the Board of Supervisors.

    (c) The Security Alarm Systems Commission shall periodically review the decisions of administrative hearing officers for the purpose of monitoring effectiveness of the administrative hearing process.

    (d) The Security Alarm Systems Commission shall develop recommendations for the Board of Supervisors concerning the need for additional local regulation of alarm company operators, as permitted by Virginia Code, Section 15.1-28.2, and/or the adoption of statewide standards by the Department of Housing and Community Development or other regulatory authority.
